Gasol's not on his level per se, but he's unquestionably put them at a much higher level and came about due to a trade that

woulda been vetoed by every fantasy league on the planet.

The NBA nowadays has become 2 stars = titles. In the 80's, you needed 3+....just in your message you listed 2 that were 4 deep.

The game is different.

You say the 5 rings matter, sure they do. But Kobe in the middle of his strings lost his 2nd fiddle in large part becuase he helped push Shaq out and his team was not much more than a .500 team. That says something to me.

I think there's plenty of reasons to not put Kobe up in the top 5.
