so what's to stop people from not scanning things and just putting them in their bags? With RFID you wouldn't need the scanner and just pass the cart

RFID is cost-prohibitive for small items still. it's the future, not yet the present. -- nm

At my supermarket someone is usually watching and if you put something in the bagging area without scanning it
