Banks want to have their cake and eat it, too. Clearly the two are not comparable since the crash.

They made the loan on the assumption that if it ever fell into their hands, they'd have something worth more than dirt. No that it's actually worth less than dirt, they'd rather just have the money, thank you. The property? No, no. That's not the bank's problem.
