can stop the ball with his hand and render the so called resulting punishment of him being sent off moot. Would he have used his hand to stop it in the first half? I don't think so. The only real punishment meted out in this instance was the penalty. Which one can miss.
The letter of the law was applied correctly by the referee in this incident and the law is an ass.
