He chose C.C. knowing that he couldn't pitch and he plans to replace him with Pettite. Thus rewarding C.C. and Pettite.

It's kind of a smart move that will allow him to keep them both happy and have three Yankee starters go to the all-star game. Only two can pitch but all three get a selection.
