You don't think a lot of Americans want to see a movie that basically re-enforces their belief that they were right about Iraq all along?

Opposition to the Iraq War has been mainstream for at least five years now. It's not like this is coming out in 2005.
If it had, then yes, it definitely would be considerably more of a gamble, but Matt Damon running around proving that Bush and company were wrong on going in and then clusterfucked the early days setting the scene for a long resistance isn't exactly spilling any state secrets that aren't pretyt much already widely held to be the truth.
There's just nothing shocking there.
