WWE was changing. Sting might been top notch in the late 80's on some in-ring, but by 91...it was back to Flair

and Hogan was on his way out so Bret/Shawn were ushering that in up north. And at that point, Sting wasn't given much in the ring.
Muta and Flair were unqeustioned greats. Flair's the best ever...Sting in the ring with him had an extra gear he didn't have for anyone else.
Now, end of the day, is it bad to come up as a perfectly serviceable successful guy for 15 years...course not. But when he quits later this year; he'll have the Everyone Loves Raymond career finale instead of Flair or Shawn or Undertaker's finales.
By 1997 when Hogan and Sting built for 15 months, neither could deliver in the ring. Go back and watch that match and then compare it to any Wrestlemania main event in the last 15 years....it's glaringly bad.
