We disagree on that comparison, but a better question is, what is the goal you're tryin to achieve with constant minority or coalition gov'ts?

At least in context of "How is this better than big-tent parties?"
in the end, there's just as much "Fuck it! I'm takin my ball and going home," in that system as there is when you force people to come together under the brokerage parties. Further, I'd argue that you dramatically increase the odds of missing out on the national focus when you represent constiuencies that are more narrow in scope.
I just don't believe coalitions solve the
problem I think most people want solved as well as a broader party does. People are taking a narrow slice of Canadian history. During many decades, the Canadian two or two-and-a-half party
system appeared to govern fairly fine. Got us to this point in our history, didn't it?
