Steinbrenner was actually behind the curve with TV rigths for the yankees. Turner, WGN, Fox Sports and NESN were all much earlier adopters

I don't know for sure, but I don't see how that's possible with TBS and WGN having Braves and Cubs/ChiSox games respectively for a long time. (nm)

the yankees cable games in the 80's were on wpix. that's who he sold the rights to early in the cable years....nm

I don't know exact dates, but we got cable in 1978 and WTBS already had baseball and WGN followed soon after.

Unless I'm reading this wrong, TBS carried Braves games since 1973. WPIX was a local station that carried Yankee games long before Steinbrenner.
