He did a lot of shady s**t back in the day. He was involved with Watergate in some way and he paid a private eye to follow Winfield around

so he could use any dirt he found to make Winfield look bad and give him an excuse to get rid of him.
There's more but for all his faults and shady dealings he did so many great things no has ever heard about.

I read a biography about him recently and it pulled no punches. It talked about the numerous things he did to get ahead and stay there and it also talked about the charity the man gave. A very good book and interesting life to learn about.
