work for a different company?

seriously, there are companies that are not like that/not as much at risk for it.

after having been laid-off from a small company in an iffy business, one of the reasons I chose my current one (after they, ya know, offered) was age, long-term general growth possibilities, and stability. there had been layoffs in the past, but I looked for a particular area of the co. that was likely to be more stable.

I know that's not possible for everyone everywhere, and desperate times call for different actions sometimes; but taking the above into account can be a good thing.

rah, rah, corporate wonkitude.
