The point being, bank robberies typically net maybe $5-10k. But its automatically armed robbery, even with no gun.

And since banks are all across state lines thanks to whatever rule, it's an instant armed robbery felony charge with the FBI looking for you, not the cops. That's a lot of firepower down your neck for an amount of money you could have robbed in a lot of other non-FBI attracting ways.
