In response to "My best friend just gave birth to a healthy baby girl 10 days early! She's absolutely glowing in delight in the first photos. -- nm" by Hotkiss

Funny, I just had this thought in the shower today: most people marry and have kids out of peer pressure - "everybody" else is doing it, so I have to

as well.

As in, not because they had fully thought through their actions, and why they had to do it. And so one may eventually come to regret the stress of being a parent (child-less couples reportedly being happier than parental couples), and also choice of spouse (divorce rates hover around 50% most places).

Every irrational infatuation I've had (sometimes causing me pro-longed misery) has come about due to close friends moving in together, getting married and/or having children, I believe. Not because I just came across a girl/woman that was one in a million, or seemed to most likely be my one and only soul-mate.
