Culligan faucet-mounted water filter review

In all the years I lived in Boston I never felt the need to buy a water filter nor did I ever buy bottled water. Boston's water is yummy. After moving hear and finding out the entire area's water supply comes from the Ohio River & is heavily chorinated I had to get a filter system. I ruled out a pitcher system because it was too cumbersome. I was able to get a discount on a Pur faucet-mounted filter and was quite happy with it - until it died after 2 months. P&G happily sent me a coupon to replace it but I had to pay sales tax on it That 2nd mount died after about 8 months. Nearly 4 years and 5 Purs later I gave up on Pur. (The last one sprang leaks on the front - actual holes. And I paid sales taxes on every "free" replacement.) I expected to get a Brita but I checked Consumer Reports first. They rated Culligan the highest. I got a mount and an extra filter for less than the cost of a new Pur mount. Culligan also says their filters last twice as long as Pur's. So far I'm very happy. There's no trace of chlorine taste & the Culligan filters out the same crap a Pur does. An added bonus is the filter turns itself off when you turn the water off. With the Pur if you didn't turn back to tap water you could shorten the filter life by running hot water through it. Replacement filters for a single Culligan cost nearly 50% less than a Pur. AND they should last longer. A winner all around (so far).
