LYC: Today I was on Long Island, so I thought, what the hell, I will go see the hospital in Queens where I was born.

It was COMPLETELY different from what I expected. Old queens brick institutional building, very run down. Actually, it has been shut down. it's boarded up and tehre are No Trespassing signs. The neighborhood looks to be pretty rough.

However ... it's also a very lively multiethnic neighborhood.

The other cool thing is, there is an infamous family story about when I was born, since apparently I was in a big hurry. It involved a police escort with lights and sirens. WHen I drove to the hospital today, I followed what I assume to be the same route.

I'm so happy I went. I have literally not seen it since I was born (and I assume I was not checking out buildings while my folks carried me out.
