Much as it is possible for the GOP to have racist members w/o the GOP itself being racist, the same is true of the Tea Party

The Tea Party tends to be much more conservative and more extreme than the GOP, therefore I expect that their ranks are made up of more, shall we say, unenlightened people than the GOP.
And, yes, while the GOP and the Tea Party may have similar base constituencies and goals, they are not one and the same.
The GOP would do well to remember this or it'll cause the Republican Party much damage. I fear they won't and will try to ride on the Tea Party movement and thus put people in power who shouldn't have control of a vending machine, let alone the power of elected office.
