When I was involved in party politics up here, the left of centre Liberal Party was very homophobic and had all the pro-lifers. On many of the social issues they were right of the more right leaning Conservative Party. That only changed in the last 10 years or so.

Currently the left up here is more progressive on social issues but are much more closed to ideas than the right....which is why the Liberals are wandering in the political wilderness.
