that experience -- the whole politics of having to fight Hearst's empire and the other moguls, who wanted to pay him for the negative so they could destroy it -- and subsequent experiences with RKO taking away his final cut on "Magnificant Ambersons" and hacking it to pieces, left him fairly disillusioned about his ability to ever really make his kinds of films within the Hollywood system. he acted in some more great films, like Third Man and Touch of Evil, but nobody wanted to fight with Orson about his creative vision and he got tired of trying to fight with them
