LYC: Don't you just hate people you just met who undermine you in front of everyone else?

I went to a weekly CouchSurfing meeting yesterday and there were about 10 people, including me and 2 friends I brought along. One Tunisian girl was being a total bitch to me in front of everyone because she saw a post I made before I arrived, asking about the political injustice and media censorship issues I read on Tunisia's wiki.
She started making fun of me for "being scared of Tunisia" and being a narrow minded American who only sees the world through what she reads in books and websites. I don't know what the fuck her problem was, but I got super pissed. Then she kept saying how it's because I haven't traveled enough, and asking me things like, "is this you first time outside the USA? is it your first time traveling alone?" and rolling my eyes no matter what I said.
Um, forgive me for being a bit nervous about going to a country on the other side of the world not knowing the language or culture and having only limited contact with my friends or family? Then she was all, "I lived in Turkey for 6 months and traveled through Europe alone without knowing the language sometimes." Sorry, but to me, as varied as I know Europe is, it is still considerably homogeneous compared to USA vs freaking Tunisia. And Turkey is pretty much a derivation from the Arabic world, even if a big one. I think it's only natural to ask about the safety of a country before (or, in my case, after) deciding to go.
And in fact, I think of myself as quite the opposite: I committed to Tunisia before reading hardly *anything*, and view any cultural differences as cool rather than weird.
The killer was the end, right before we all left the cafe. I asked her: "how old are you?" 27, she said. One more question: "have you been to oriental Asia before?" she replied, "uhhh, well, I've been to western Russia." Dumb bitch didn't even have the balls to say no, even though she had been talking down to me all evening in front of everyone. She's also a dumb bitch because she seemed to think western Russia is anywhere close to oriental Asia.
UGHHH the whole thing bothered me so much because she is convinced I'm just a typical American.
