Other stupid Access question: Is there a way to link on a wildcard from table to table?

the people here have data in the following format
1A503 with a Qty of 3.
our database has each of the 3 broken out like this:
1A503-001
1A503-002
1A503-003
I want to link the tables where the 1A503 links to the 1A503-00(1-3).
Responses:
WHERE [table].[key] = LEFT([table].[KEY], 8) -- nm
