I might be at the same point as Reagen......this issue totally reflects everything wrong with the Conservatives...

Maybe because this one thing affects my job in many ways. Could I do my job without it, yes but it makes me question the whole role of politicans interacting with the beauracracy...yes in theory the head of Industry Canada oversees and directs Stats Can. However, there are something in which you simply do NOT go against the beauracy. Unless the PM or Clement have degrees in stats and can argue against whats recommended, then I think they should follow whats recommended to them.
The next person hired as head of Stats Can will now likely not be willing to rock the boat and they will follow what the Minister (of whatever party) will say. Precedent is being set.
Clement is either that gutless to stand up to Harper or hes does not believe in the advice given to him my his department. Either way hes now lost the confidence of his Ministy....and indirectly his Ministry supports ours.
