characters on TV shows, in general, do not grow or change

not a universal rule but generally the flaws in their character that make for conflict and drama on a weekly basis remain intact over the course of the series, otherwise they stop being the character that drew in audiences in the first place
would people keep watching House if he stopped doing all his "House" things and became a redeemed man who was nice to all his assistants, Wilson, and Cuddy?
