You don't think that shows like Lost, BSG, Deadwood, etc. have much in common with soaps?

Serialized drama has taken over cable TV, as has already been pointed out. I'm just saying it's not anything new. Long story arcs/char dev were here long before Lost, and I don't see that abating any time soon.
