but to have them not react to what's happening in their TV universe going forward isn't reasonable in my mind.
In Psych, there's been dozens of murders and several attempts on Shawn's life and the lives of his mother, and women-loves. While he might be a goofball, at some point, those events must impact his decisions lest, why would we the viewer care about what happens otherwise?
It's comedy-porn...you ain't here for the story, you're here for the jokes between Gus and Shawn. That's fine, at least admit it.
But there's a lot of us who feel the goofball kid should mature a bit from doing stupid shit like getting in the middle of a gang-war just becuase it sounds cool....becuase there's 4 full seasons of people dying that should teach him the circumstances that keep him on a job can be serious.
