The 2010 census is changed. Whereas 1/5 of people got the manditory 40-page "long form" before, now the 1/3rd will get it and it's voluntary.

Many widespread groups complain that it has the potential to corrupt the information. (This is my concern.)

However, it does fit with a global trend vis a vie census gathering and it was done because of privacy concerns regarding some of the specific questions on the long form.

The head of Stats Can resigned yesterday over the matter, though many pundits believe that has less to do with the change that he disagreed with and more to do with the Tony Clement Globe & Mail interview that reminded the department that they still reported to him.
