the reason its bullshit is because it proves nothing about the point i was making. i never said that a couple is required to stay together, or that for any particular couple it would be the correct choice. simply that the choice does exist and its a valid one. whether or not i would make that choice for myself has no bearing on whether or not it would be a good idea for someone else. so, if i had said, "no, fuck that, i would be out", it would not mean that sandra would have to, or even should do the same thing. nothing i could have answered would have made a difference one way or the other.

i am sure there are situations where tossing absurd unpleasant hypotheticals about one's wife and child are helpful to prove a point, but this was clearly not one of them.
