In response to "*sigh* At the park. These kids didn't even know how to swing without being pushed. -- nm" by Dano

I used to think kids had it good because of all the cool toys, but looking back on all the outdoor play when I was kid, I feel sorry for them now.

When I was in 1st grade, I could come home from school, do some chores then disappear until it got dark. I could go to any friend's house, get as dirty as I wanted, go swimming if I wanted to...just as long as I was home before dark.

When I was in 4th grade my best friend and I could go camping by ourselves for an entire weekend. We could fish, clean it, cook it and eat it without any adult supervision.

Granted I did grow up in a rural environment, but it seems a lot more dangerous than suburbia these days. We had alligators, mean bulls, and poisonous snakes.
