I think it was easier when I was a kid. My parents could walk me on to the plane, then non-stop, and my grandparents met me *at* the gate.

I can't imagine doing that now where the kid has to walk from the plane to past the security point. Even with a airline rep, that's just nerve-wracking, especially for 6 to 12 year olds.
