Need computer-ish advice. Setting up a media player. What are my options?

Basically I just need it to play my DVD collection that is in MKV format and I need internet to connect to netflix. I'm assuming XBMC can handle all of this so I'm looking more for cheap hardware options.

What's the video codec inside the MKV? It's just a container. Is it H.264? MPEG-2? -- nm - oblique Jul 27, 08:52 10

        It's a PC. You can run Windows on it (including Windows Media Center with Netflix) or XBMC if you want. You can connect USB drives to it for sure - oblique Jul 27, 09:06 3
