In response to "Stupid question of the day: Does an icecube weigh more than the liquid water it contains?" by TWuG

It weighs exactly as much as the water it contains, but it weighs less than the water it displaces.

Whether frozen or melted it weighs exactly the same, but when it melts it becomes more dense and thus takes up less volume.
