i.e., he's not the villain here, but quite effectively demonstrated (better, set up others to demonstrate) how ridiculous it is to assume racism based on out-of-context snippets and then act on these ill-informed assumptions.

His target, being the 'Institutional Left', was much wider than smearing Sherrod. And he done hit 'em good.
