they dam it though - it's not really running right where they live. (i'm watching a whole two hour special on beavers.)

there is a place they were imported to in southern (very very southern) argentina. the beavers actually climbed for days to dam a river in the hills above them for no reason. they think it was the sound of it running by their lodge there too.
