so ... Tom's blog responses seem to trend to say that the producers did that whole "pea thing" for controversy - someone mentions in past seasons when a chef messes up - ie. leaving something behind - they have a camera shot showing the item where they forgot it (if that's what happened here) - and the suggestion is they are going the way of other "gotcha" reality shows and not so concerned with the cooking aspects as in prior seasons. It's a view I had not considered - but coincides with the increase in gamesmanship that I noticed this year.
