I found out yesterday morning that I'd made a brain-farty mistake a couple of weeks ago, something I had never done before in the literally hundreds of other times I had performed a similar task over the course of ~17 years. not a fireable offense, really; but I feel so bad about it, especially since it made the person waste time, and that's so precious to me.
the topper is that it wasn't a longtime coworker, many of whom I've known for good chunks if not all of the aforementioned span and who really know how detail-oriented and rarely-mistake-making I am, but someone with whom I've only been working for 4 months. this person knows I'm good at what I do, but crappitycrapcrap. and, also, crap.
(I'm going to offer to, like, run errands or something to try and make up for that time; but it's going to take a long while for me to be able to brush it off and stop kicking myself. :/)
