It would shock me if he were traded. All deals have to be approved by ownership. Angelos is Greek, and sponsored the Greek national team that Markakis played on.

It would also be selling low, and trading one of the few players that actually seems to care, and plays like it.

Brian Roberts is more likely to be traded, and it should be pretty obvious how Angelos feels about doing that.

Another thing to keep in mind is that he's under contract through 2014 at $10.6M, $12.35M, $15.35M, and $15.525M.

There's no rush to trade him, trading him now (or even next year) isn't going to make them contenders in the next few years. I doubt it even helps much long term, given the O's scouting and development issues.
