Some won't be. I know of people who have had issues with it. I had one guest who responded that he was bringing kids which we weren't expecting.

There were going to be a few kids there (nieces and nephews), but we hadn't been planning on having friends bring their kids. Ultimately we just let it go because they were travelling for the wedding while none of the other friends were, so we figured none of the other friends would be offended that their kids weren't invited. It all turned out fine.
