And the reason I have such a problem with that is (spoilers)

The movie is about a man overcoming guilt and grief. It's not about making dream worlds (that's what happens, not what it's about). So I really needed to feel emotionally invested in his plight, and I never was. I think they spent so much time worrying about what happens, they neglected what it was about.

Also, I don't criticize it for being a blockbuster, but I do think the constraints that the budget and box office expectations put on it are directly responsible for many of its weaknesses.
