I have always (apart from grad skool) lived within an hour drive to the beach. I think it would freak me out if I wasn't.

I grew up about 4 four miles from the Indian Ocean, now I live about 10 miles from the Pacific. I haven't been to the beach in years :/ -- nm

the pacific is larger and has relatively more of its area spread over the tropics, so it makes sense that it'd be warmer on average.
