The article is presenting it as crime hasn't increased in the intervening time from when illegals started flooding in.

Rate in 2000 was 560 violent crimes per 100,000 people and in 2008 it's 455 apparently.
If there's an epidemic of crime brought on by illegals; this wouldn't have a 20% drop in that time frame.
This link, granted, while take Kristol to task states these #'s and I haven't checked the truthfulness of what they say, but they'd need to be real stupid to link things that'll call em liars.
