I hope it works out for them - one way or the other - life is too short to be unhappy. Big issues may need to be broached

you will know when that is - you will not hesitate to even comment. example:
I noticed huge bruises on my mom's arm and I in a serious tone asked her if my step dad did that?? she said in just as serious tone - I'm not in jail am I?? I laughed and laughed cause it's true. She would kill him for even raising his hand let alone hitting her.
not that he would - he's a pussy cat but those bruises were awful. I could not let that slide without asking.
It is hard when a daughter lives in another state. I worry about things. I am sure you do as well.
