I just watched an at bat featuring "a couple of struggling young players" named Kenny Lofton and John Smoltz.

Lofton was in an Astros jersey for these 4 out of his 74 at bats with them. He would be traded in the off-season for Willie Blair and Ed Taubensee. Yikes.
And I'd forgotten what a nerdy little mustache Smoltz had in 91.

Amazing how Kenny Lofton went from basketball in college to baseball in the pros -- (link)

Yeah, they actually commented on that. He was only a couple of years removed from the Final Four at the time. -- nm

Final Four team he was on had Steve Kerr Sean Elliott and others. I was attending High School in Tucson at the time. -- nm
