If you call someone's cell phone locally but their area code is Loooong distance, do you get charged for a long distance call?

I surprised I don't know this, but I deal with a lot of military folks and they have numbers from all over the country as they just got transfered, yadda yadda, need to get married, call me at (weird area code) but they are just a mile or two away at the huge Ft Lewis army base.

Are you calling from a land line, if so, yes you will get charged long distance. Call from your cellphone and no charge. -- nm - Krusty Aug 3, 11:55
