that the majority of the reading public is going to be stoked and excited about that fact? nope.
people like DVDs and HDTV because its a slight performance boost of the exact thing they love to do (watch TV). people love iPods because its a huge upgrade over Walkmans doing the exact same thing they love to do (listening to songs on headphones). a widespread switch to Kindles that would kill the physical book is akin to saying "Hey everyone! We're going to start watching American Idol by stretching out out nutsacks and projecting the images onto the flesh with special glasses!" That's a different experience.
