defeating the exes is Scott's quest - they're obstacles he must overcome in order to be with Ramona.
Ramona doesn't mourn the loss of the exes - she's over all of them - but she's pulling for Scott to prevail (to varying degrees, depending on how annoyed she is with him at the time) - and, of course, it's a very big deal to Scott.
