I lost a little more than that in 2007. stoopid accident.
my account materials were sent to work but weren't forwarded to me, so I didn't know they were that close to expiration. (I had planned to at least try to use them for vacation that year anyway. boo!)
what bugged me the most is that I might have been able to donate them, even if they couldn't be used for tickets. :/
I kept United active in other ways, plus they have had nice e-mail reminders as back-up.
