...Darth Vader/Anikin is one of the best pilots in the galaxy, yet he cannot shoot down unskilled novice Jedi Luke Skywalker and in fact gets knocked into space by yahoo Han Solo. How is that? I propose that Anikin in fact much of his ability when defeated by Obiwan at the end of Revenge of the Sith. The black suit keeps him alive but he's a shadow of his former self. His flying skills - as well as his lightsaber skills - are barely those of a young padawan, his movements and senses hampered by the armor and suit that keep him alive.
