oh, i hate that too! but when i interview people i always ask them that because i'm mean like that

the way i prepare myself for interviews is i look up a bunch of questions online, then go somewhere quiet for awhile and go through the questions one by one, thinking of what my answer will be. it helps SOOO much. fwiw. kind of helps decrease my anxiety over freezing, and helps my answers improve.
i still remember like it was yesterday the interview about 10 years ago where i was applying for a web dev job and they asked me to write javascript from scratch on the board. i didn't know it inside and out so i totally choked. then the dude was all, "okay, tell me a non-work-related subject that you like and know a lot about." me: "umm... dogs?" him: "okay, i want you to take 10 minutes and tell me all about dogs."
me: "umm, they're loyal, and nice, and they love you unconditionally......" that's all i had.
horrible.
