I really hope that addressing it with her directly (something that nobody *ever* does with her, lest their benign comments get taken in the worst possible way and she declares WWXIII) doesn't result in another war, and instead makes her realize she really does need to be on her best behavior.
"We are worried there will be a scene" can't be easy to hear from your kid about your presence at his wedding/my shower.
