I was slightly hurt, when after the birth of moose jr, Mrs moose only wanted *her* mom to come visit that first day. I approached the situation the same way you did at first, and I thought that my parents deserved to see their grandchild too.
But when I told my mom about it, she told me basically what I'm telling you. That first day isn't just about the moose jr's birth (even though it feels that way), it's about the Mrs moose's recovery. My mom wasn't hurt at all, she scolded me for being upset over it. After I stepped back and digested it, I realized that Mrs moose wasn't making a statement about my family, it was about her recovery.
