If it's Tommy John, it's normally 12-18 months. He'll be ready to pitch again in 2012 and by the all-star break, he'll be rounding into form.

I wouldn't rush it though if I was the Nats. Does anyone expect them to be competing next year? No. So leave him on the bench until Opening Day 2012
